Samuel David, Ph.D.

University of Minnesota 

    Samuel David, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Second Language Education at the University of Minnesota. His research interests include literacy development of emergent bilingual students, teacher learning about translanguaging and culturally responsive pedagogy, and educational equity for linguistically & culturally diverse students. He served as project manager for Project TRANSLATE from 2012-2015. He has published in Research in the Teaching of English, Middle Grades Research Journal, Bilingual Research Journal, NABE Journal of Research & Practice, The Reading Teacher, and Language Arts. He currently teaches EL and Second Language Literacy methods classes in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Second Language Education licensure programs at UMN, and serves on the Executive Committee for the Center for Advanced Research in Language Acquisition (CARLA). Prior to doctoral work, Sam spent 6 years teaching bilingual Special Education at the elementary and middle school level in Brooklyn, New York.
